The Step Inside Design Magazine, formerly titled Step-by-Step Graphics, launched in 1985. It aimed to dish up designers who wanted to jump on the "desktop publishing revolution".

In 2002, the magazine was redesigned, renamed, and relaunched by Robert Valentine.
