Aalto 43 Lounge Chair, 1936
Artek, Finland

Alvar Aalto

Natural birch, linen webbing

W 65 cm, H 70 cm, D 164 cm

The lounge chair designed by Alvar Aalto un 1936 was first shown in the Finnish Pavillon in the Paris World's Fair.

The easy curves of Lounge Chair 43 form a long, lean profile. Its cantilevered frame along with the webbed-linen suspension combine for a receptive feel that minimizes pressure points and lets the user lie back and relax in casual style. The mesh also provides cooling aeration. Cross rails are solid birch.
