. in 1964-68 studied furniture design at the School for Arts and Crafts in Prague.

. studied architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Hamburg in 1969-1974.
. studied philosophy at Technical University in Stuttgart in 1973.
. was scientific assistant at the Institute for Industrial Design at the University of Hannover between 1977-79.

. in 2002, opened his solo exhibition 'Ame fantasque du design' Centre Tcheque, Paris and in 2003, opened his solo exhibition in Vienna.
. has works in the permanent collections of various museums around the world, inlcuding MoMa, Museum for Decorative Arts in Lyon and Paris, France, Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Switzerland and Design Museum in London, United Kingdom.

1983 Honourable mention for the ‘German Architecture Prize’ for design of Sipkova house, Hamburg
1989 Awarded the Dutch ‘Kho Liang Ie Prize’ for design
1991 Awarded ‘La Croix Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et Lettres’ by the French government
1993 Awarded the ‘Prins Bernhard Fonds Prize’ for Architecture and Applied Arts
2005 Awarded ´Talent De L´Originalite´ - Le Sommet du Luxe et de la Creation
