born in 1952, Bolzano, Italy

. graduated from Universita di Firenze as an architect in 1975,
. trained as a sculptor at the Academy of Oskar Kokoschka, Salzburg; also studied at the University of California, Los Angeles,
. invited to Sottsass Associati, Ettore Sottsass’s design studio with the recommendation of Marco Zanini,
. became a founding member of Memphis,
. designed ceramics for Memphis’s first collection such as Nefertiti tea set and the Tuja vase,
. designed a new series of ceramics for Memphis in 1982,
. started to teach at Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna in 1982, created limited edition “In the Spirit of the USA” ceramic series for Villeroy&Boch with his students,
. left Sottsass Associati in 1984 and founded his own studio in Milan,
. published The Baroque Bauhaus manifesto in 1985,
. creative director of Swatch between 1990 and 1993,
. his works are examples of functional Good Design, and awarded three times the "compasso d'oro" for good design,
. selected for "compasso d'oro" design prize 2004 for "girly" by catalano,
. won  the wallpaper design award 2004 with vigilius mountain resort,
. designed the new look at the façade of "palazzo del cinema" during 61st, 62nd and 63rd venice film festival, in 2004/05/06,
. designed for many companies such as illy, swatch, wmf, villeroy&boch, lavazza, koziol, artemide, swarovski.
