Atollo is a lamp emitting direct and indirect light made in lacquered metal. The base comprises a cylinder on which a cone is mounted, the diffuser is a half-circular cap. Thanks to Magistretti's know-how these three geometric elements become an architectonic classic while reasoning on abstract compositional components.

The base has a double lamp at its end which is hidden from view by the semi-circular cap: the cone appears to be illuminated, the cylinder a little less, the half-circle almost in the shade. The environment will have direct light near the base and diffused light in the rest of the room. A version in opaque glass increases the luminous suggestions highlighting the value of the material. The clear elegance of Vico Magistretti comes to the fore, revisiting it as a luminous sculpture, the classic abat-jour.

Featured in a number of museum collections, the Atollo series features a shade that appears to almost hover in mid-air. The lamp is the winner of the compasso d'oro in 1979.
