. was first apprenticed to a blacksmith, Emile Robert, and then to the metal workshop of Szabo.
. opened the first of string of his own workshops and studios in 1923.
. helped establish the Union of Modern Artists, with the manifesto "We like logic, balance and purity".
. opened "Ateliers Jean Prouvé" in 1931 and collaborated with arhictects Eugene Beaudoin and Marcel Lods.
. designed a series of furniture with Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret.
. during the World War II, manufactured bicycles and a stove called "Pyrobal" that could burn on any fuel, was also commissioned by the Reconstruction Ministry to mass produce frame houses for refugees; active in the French Résistance, was also elected the mayor of Nancy after the city was liberated.
. in 1947 built the Maxéville factory where he produced furniture and undertook architectural research on the uses of aluminium.
. designed shelving units for the dormitories at the Cite Internationale Universitaire de Paris, together with Charlotte Perriand and the artist Sonia Delaunay in 1952.
