ESDi organizes the 1st International Congress of Design and Innovation of Catalunya

ESDi, Escola Superior de Disseny, is taking advantage of their 20th anniversary to celebrate the 1st International Congress of Design and Innovation of Catalunya which will take place on the 25 and 26 of March 2010.

Under the slogan “Design: driving force of the innovation and the social progress”, ESDi invites everyone to submit topics to be treated during the congress, such as the use of new technologies in creativity and design, Design Thinking, the importance of Design as a reactivator of the economy, Ecodesign, Branding or Design for All, among others.

The enterprise innovation is based on the application of the scientific, technological and social advances with the aim of optimizing the processes that generate products and services of the companies. To apply the innovation with the methodology adapted by means of the design is the safest way to secure the enterprise competitiveness.

On the other hand, is undeniable that the social progress is helped by means of the innovation; the respect to the sustainability of the environment; the improvement in quality, functionality and security of products and services; the optimization of the production costs; the creation of new jobs; the inclusion in all the social activities of the people majors, disabled and the people with physical dependencies.

The design has become the more adapted tool to look for the necessary balance between the enterprise benefits and the social benefits. For this reason, the motto of our congress is: Design, driving force of the innovation and the social progress.

The proposals for the topics to be treated during the congress must be submitted no later than September 15 of 2009. Once the proposals are accepted, the deadline for submitting communications is November 30 of 2009.

Call for paper: April 2009 - 15th of September 2009.
Acceptance of communications: 15th of October 2009.
Publication of the detailed program and rapporteurs: 30 of October 2009.
Inscriptions to the Congress: 1 of October 2009 - 28 of February 2010.

Congress: 18 and 19 of March 2010.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The ESDi invites to you to present a communication in its 1st International Congress of Design and Innovation of Catalonia. The possible thematic lines are:

1. The use of new technologies in the creativity and the design.
2. The importance of the design like reactivator of the economy.
3. The responsibility with the environmental conservation: ecodesign.
4. Design for the local development.
5. Design for everybody. Accessibility and adaptability to the disabled ones, people majors, minors and people with dependencies.
6. Pedagogical challenges in the formation of designers.
7. Identity in the diversity: the mestization, the multicultural and other sociological agreements of the good design.
8. Past, present and future of the design.
9. The visualization of data and projects.
10. Design of interfaces and interactivity.

Send your proposals by means of a summary (abstract) of 500 words to congres@esdi.es before the 15th of 2009 September.

The program committee will communicate the acceptance of the proposals the 15th of October of 2009 and the communications will have to be given before the 30th of November of 2009.
